Great Lakes Technical Rescue
Myself along with six members from our fire department recently completed Rescue 3 International's Swiftwater Rescue Technician 1 course on the Peshtigo river in N/E Wisconsin. The training was conducted by Cameron Borchert (president and lead instructor for Great Lakes Technical Rescue) and was taught at the Wildman Adventure Resort in Athelstane, WI.
I've participated in a lot or water rescue trainings through the years and this was by far one of the best experiences our members have had! The location was fantastic and had everything we were looking for. Nice accommodations and easy access to a variety of training sites that we all within walking distance. Cameron ran an outstanding class and my guys came away with a ton of great training and skills to build from. The knowledge and equipment the instructors provided was first rate. We were so impressed with the experience that I'm looking to sign up another six of our members next year!
If you're looking for training in swiftwater and rope rescue and don't want to travel across the country to get it, you got to check out Great Lakes Technical Rescue. You won't be disappointed!

I'd like to thank you again for the SRT training up on the Peshtigo River. I think Cameron did an excellent job covering the skills and topics making sure everyone had a clear understanding of the techniques and execution.
I feel everyone had enough repetitions to perform each skill. Cameron did an excellent job on scouting the river looking for the optimal locations to perform each of the skills and taking everyone's safety into consideration.
I will be recommending Great Lakes Technical Rescue for future swiftwater training for our fire department. This was the fifth swiftwater rescue class I've attended and I feel it was the best and the most comprehensive. I can't wait for next spring!
